Will there be a meeting for new parents where we can get more information about your rowing program?

  • In the fall and spring seasons, we do have a meeting for new parents! Check out our event page to see when/where the meeting will be. If you aren’t on our email list, email rcrcinformation@gmail.com for more info!

Do you offer any financial assistance?

Will there be practice on school holidays or on other week days when I do not have school?

  • Yes! We hold regular practices on every weekday, even if you do not have school. Athletes who carpool from school should plan ahead to be sure they have a ride to practice.

Will there be practices during PPS Spring Break?

  • Yes! There will be practices for our experienced and novice teams. If you are in town, plan to spend some of your free time at the boathouse! Advanced rowers selected for the Spring Break Camp will be training at Shasta Lake.

I am in the seventh grade and want to try rowing. Which class should I sign up for?

  • Sign up for Middle School Rowing. You’re invited to continue rowing with the Middle School Team in 8th grade as well – or you may join the Novice team at that point.

I am in the sixth grade and want to try rowing. Do you offer anything for me?

  • We do not offer classes for sixth graders. You will be eligible to begin rowing in the summer before your seventh grade school year.

I began rowing in the Summer last year, but haven’t rowed since. Which class should I sign up for?

  • Most likely, you can jump right in to the Middle School team or Novice Team. Please contact the coaches if you aren’t sure or have questions.

I began rowing a few years ago, but have not rowed since. Which class should I sign up for?

  • The Free Weeks are designed for athletes who are brand new to rowing. However, some rowers prefer a gentle refresher upon returning to the sport. Contact the coaches to get help deciding what’s best for you!

I am signing up for Free Week. Should I sign up for the rest of the season now, or can I wait until later?

  • We ask that you wait until Free Week is underway, so the coaches can advise you individually about next steps.

I have no experience and cannot attend the Free Week. Can I still start rowing this season?

  • Yes! Depending on space availability, you may be able to join our Middle School or Novice programs.

I have signed up for my first rowing class! Do I need to buy anything to be ready for the class?

  • Probably not. We do recommend you bring a hat, sunglasses, and a water bottle to each practice. Other than that, you will need lots of layers of clothing you can exercise in. If you have trouble accessing these things, let us know.
